The Mount Laurel Police Department will be holding its 5th annual Junior Police Academy for qualified individuals interested in Law Enforcement, who will be entering the 7th or 8th grade in September 2022. This five-day course will include various presentations on law enforcement topics, hands on practical scenarios, instruction in military drill and physical fitness training. The objective is to provide a week of education and fun through a Police academy format to the youth of our community who are interested in Law Enforcement.
The Junior Police Academy will be held at the Harrington Middle School from Monday August 8th, 2022 to Friday August 12th, 2022 between the hours of 08:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Seating is limited to 24 applicants. Applicants must be a Mount Laurel resident. Applications will be due no later than April 15, 2022. Applications must include a letter of recommendation by a school representative such as a teacher, guidance counselor, etc. Completed applications can be turned in at the Mount Laurel Police Department HQ. Applications received after this date will be subject to disqualification. All applications will be date and time stamped the day they are received and applicants who successfully complete a thorough background check will be accepted in chronological order. Applicants who are not accepted into the first 24 seats will be placed on a standby list. Candidates accepted into the Academy will be notified during the week of April 22, 2022.
Recruits will be responsible for the following:
- Transportation to and from the Police Academy
- 1 lunch and 2 snacks per day
- Sneakers with laces that can endure physical training
