Welcome to the 2004 Mount Laurel Technology Curriculum, a document that is designed to integrate technology into the content areas. This curriculum was developed through the hard work of different organizations, local and national. In (insert the month here) 2003, the Mount Laurel Information and Analysis Focus Group began the process by examining technology standards that should be ubiquitous to all classrooms. After careful consideration, the group chose to adopt the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) NETS (The National Educational Technology Standards.)

In addition to NETS, the Curriculum is also aligned with New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards (NJCCCS) for technology. Using the 2000 Technology Curriculum as a starting point, the basic technology skills have been examined and updated to encompass the broader integration of technology within the classroom environment. Each technology instructional focus lists integration project ideas developed by the combined efforts of classroom and computer teachers. Taking advantage of the classroom teachers' content knowledge and the technological skills of the computer teachers, this process models how the technology curriculum should be assimilated into the classroom.

In the elementary schools, gone are the days when classroom teachers would march their students down to the computer lab. Now, the computer teacher will bring the lab to the classroom to help integrate technology elements to enhance content areas. The 5 th through 8 th grade technology curriculum continues this same integration in a computer lab scenario. In all settings, students naturally integrate technology with what they are learning.   Therefore, a constructivist approach is vital to the implementation of this curriculum.
