Investigations in Number, Data, and Space is a curriculum resource approved by the Mount Laurel Board of Education. It is a research-based, child-centered approach to teaching mathematics through engaging activities, discussions, and problem solving. Students are involved in meaningful mathematical problems. It was developed by TERC, a non-profit educational research organization in Cambridge, Mass., with funding from the National Science Foundation, and it is published by Scott Foresman.
Investigations directly supports standards-based instruction by stressing inquiry-based learning strategies that promote conceptual understanding and the development of problem solving skills.
