Identification

My brother picked my daughter up from school this week and was asked for identification, even though I sent a note saying he would be picking her up that day. Is this policy?

Our office staffs have been instructed to ask for identification if the person picking up a child is not known to them. It helps us to verify that this is the person you have designated in your communication. In some instances, the office staff will copy the identification for future reference. These practices have been spelled-out in security mandates set by the state and developed in conjunction with police departments.
