The Mount Laurel Hartford School is home to 1,052 students in Grades 5 and 6, and 115 staff members, each school day.

Daily instruction in the curriculum areas is enhanced at Hartford School through special curricular projects conducted at both the fifth and sixth-grade levels during the course of the school year. Students increase academic skills through participation in curriculum-related clubs such as the Technology Club, and the Homework Clubs. Recent additions to the programs offered include world languages for both fifth and sixth grade students.

Our school features a comprehensive computer technology program including two state-of-the-art labs, a fully computer integrated library media center, a writing lab outfitted with iMac computers, and iBooks for student use. Students can access the Internet, and use the school-wide data network for research and projects. Additionally, the school boasts ActivBoards that enhance instruction using technology. Such talents as instrumental and choral ability are nurtured in our music instruction programs, including semi-annual school concerts.

Extracurricular activities help students enjoy a well-rounded school program. Our Battle-of-the-Books Club meets the needs and interests of academically motivated students, and gained the distinction of being Burlington County champion. Special events such as the annual health fair, and the geography and spelling bees, enhance the school climate. The spirit of our school is being further developed through historic activities, such as class banners that are displayed in the cafeteria.

The Hartford School staff is continually active in its quest for professional development and growth. Teachers who helped plan the educational program for our school remain committed to guiding our student body towards the attainment of high educational goals. Faculty members take part in in-service workshops, and sit on committees that have district-wide impact on our overall standard of excellence. Through their work ethic and dedication, our teachers model to students that even the highest standards are attainable.

Support for students in reading, writing, and mathematics is provided at Hartford School through a basic skills program, and after-school homework clubs. In addition, the Building Support Committee helps teachers develop strategies to assist students who are experiencing difficulty. School counselors provide assistance in academic and social-emotional areas of concern. The special education program is noteworthy due to the full array of services provided to our students.

The Mount Laurel Hartford School benefits greatly from the network of support built and consistently maintained by parents and community members. Our Parent-Teacher Organization has assisted with many school projects, and its members give generously of their time through volunteer efforts.
