The Mount Laurel Police Department will be hosting its 7th annual Junior Police Academy for qualified students interested in Law Enforcement, who are currently in the 6th or 7th grade.   This five-day course will include various presentations on law enforcement topics, hands on practical scenarios, instruction in military drill and physical fitness training.  The objective is to provide a week of education and fun through a Police academy format to the youth of our community who are interested in Law Enforcement.  
The Junior Police Academy will be held at the Harrington Middle School from August 5th 2024 to August 9th, 2024 between the hours of 08:00 AM – 3:00 PM.   
  
Applicants must be a Mount Laurel resident.  Applications are due no later than March 29th, 2024.  Applications must include a letter of recommendation by a school representative such as a teacher, guidance counselor, etc.  Completed applications can be turned in at Mount Laurel Police Department, 100 Mount Laurel Road, Mount Laurel, NJ.  Applications received after this date will be subject to disqualification.  All applications will be date and time stamped the day they are received and applicants who successfully complete a thorough background check will be accepted in chronological order.   Candidates accepted into the Academy will be notified by mail by April 19th, 2024.

Recruits will be responsible for the following:            
- Transportation to and from the Police Academy
- 1 lunch and 2 snacks per day                                                            
- Sneakers with laces that can endure physical training
- Department issued water bottle
- Black Shorts (PT style)

- Station Tour/Police Ethics
- DWI/Baton/Handcuffing
- Firearms Safety/Familiarization
- Burlington County Jail Tour
- K-9 Demo/Crime Scene
- CPR/EVOC
