There are numerous opportunities to volunteer within the Mount Laurel Schools. Many of our volunteers work through our seven Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs) and assist in our offices or with special events. PTO volunteers help to monitor our hallways in some buildings, assist in the library, and assemble information packets for parents. Our PTO groups operate school stores, organize fundraisers and arrange assemblies. They host student functions during and after the school day, many times for the entire family.

In addition to our PTOs, many of our elementary schools have room parents who will assist in coordinating special events within the classroom and help to keep all parents apprised of upcoming events.

Mount Laurel is fortunate to benefit from the efforts of Project T.I.M.E., an in-school mentoring program begun by Rev. Terrell Person, pastor of Jacob's Chapel in Mount Laurel in 1990. Since its inception, hundreds of Mount Laurel students have been matched with caring adults who come into the school for one hour each week, at a minimum, to share time with their designated student. That time can be spent sharing common interests, having lunch together or working on an academic or other project. All T.I.M.E. Mentors receive specialized training through Project T.I.M.E. Learn more about that program here.

In many of Mount Laurel's classrooms, special community partnerships have been forged with our large corporate population in the area. Professionals in fields such as medicine, finance, engineering, art and architecture have all volunteered their time to come in to our schools expose students to new careers in relative ways. We welcome the involvement of the community in advancing our curriculum and demonstrating how the daily lessons relate to our lives here.

No matter how one chooses to volunteer, all of those who help in our schools receive training from either our PTO Officers, Project T.I.M.E. Organizers or our staff members. All school volunteers also receive and review our district Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Manual for Volunteers. A signature page confirming review of that material is kept on file in our school offices to assure that all adults in our buildings are aware of the procedures to follow should an instance of bullying occur in their presence.
